33 Merrick Street

Worcester Common Ground completed their newest build at 31-33 Merrick St. An energy efficient, all-electric, two-family duplex, each side consists of three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The homes were sold at no more than $240,000, making them affordable first-time home ownership opportunities for two families.

The construction of the project is guided by Ken Perro of Longwood Development Company with support from students of YouthBuild Worcester and material donations by Saint Gobain. The design for this project was done by Larry Haley of Haley Design Building.

WCG broken ground at our new 33 Merrick project in early 2022, we want to thank our funding partners @umassmemorial Anchor Mission, @firstunitarianworcester, @wamsworks, without whom this project would not be possible. As well as huge thanks to @youthbuildusa and their students for their hard work in helping us build new homes!

WCG acquired the vacant property in late 2022,as part of a  new and exciting partnership with Umass Memorial and their Anchor Mission. We are grateful to Umass Memorial for recognizing the importance of not only affordable housing creation, but mitigating the barriers to property acquisition in a hot real estate market through seed funding. 33 Merrick will hopefully be modeled after our successful homeownership projects at 20 and 24 Merrick.
